Carbon and sulfur are one of the most widely distributed elements in nature. In the earth's crust,
carbon and sulfur usually exist in the form of compound (such as carbonate, sulfate) and element (such as
coal, sulfur). In the metal smelting process, no matter what smelting technology and craft is adopted,
carbon and sulfur will inevitably enter the metal material and form a variety of compounds, which will
have a certain impact on the properties of the metal. Therefore, in the entire smelting industry chain and
downstream industry chain, the analysis of carbon and sulfur elements is necessary.
The high frequency infrared carbon and sulfur analyzer is a fast carbon and sulfur analyzer, which
analyzer is a advanced carbon and sulfur analyzer at present, and it is widely used in fields of metallurgy,
machinery, scientific research, verification industries and etc.
Based on the principle of high-frequency induction combustion, the carbon and sulfur elements
contained in the sample are converted into CO2 and SO2. CO2 and SO2 have strong absorption bands at
4.26 μm and 7.4 μm respectively. By measuring the light intensity change after gas absorption, and
analyze the percentage of CO2 and SO2 gas concentration, indirectly determine the percentage of carbon
and sulfur in the measured sample. After circuit processing and analog-to-digital conversion, enter the
computer for data processing, and finally print out the analysis results by a printer.

The CS901 Series Carbon and Sulfur Analyzer: A Cutting-Edge Solution for Reliable C/S Analysis
In the realm of materials analysis, precision and reliability are paramount. The CS901 series offers a state-of-the-art carbon and sulfur analysis system designed to meet the most stringent requirements across various industries. Engineered with a dual furnace setup, this analyzer is equipped with a resistance furnace tailored for the combustion of organic materials, and an induction furnace specifically for inorganic substances. This configuration allows for unparalleled versatility in analyzing a wide array of samples.
One of the key advantages of the CS901 series is its ability to perform accurate carbon and sulfur analyses without the need for hardware adjustments between the two types of furnaces. This independent operation ensures that the integrity of the analysis remains uncompromised, regardless of the sample type. The shared detection unit is capable of capturing the gaseous combustion byproducts, such as carbon monoxide (CO) and sulfur dioxide (SO2), with remarkable sensitivity.
At the heart of the detection system lies up to four infrared cells, featuring an IR path constructed from solid gold. This high-end material choice significantly enhances the analyzer's durability, offering robust protection against corrosive combustion residues, including halogens. The combination of solid gold and the advanced design of the infrared cells ensures longevity and reliability over thousands of analyses.
Temperature is a critical factor in achieving complete decomposition of samples, which is essential for accurate carbon and sulfur measurements. The CS901 series excels in this regard, with the induction furnace reaching temperatures in excess of 2000°C, and the resistance furnace operating at up to 1550°C. These high temperatures guarantee thorough sample decomposition, laying the groundwork for safe and precise C/S analysis across a broad spectrum of concentrations and sample types.
The CS901 series not only meets but often exceeds the standards set by international measurement protocols such as ASTM EIO19 and DIN EN ISO 9556. Its compliance with these rigorous benchmarks underscores its stature as a leading-edge solution in combustion analysis for carbon and sulfur content.
When it comes to sample materials, the versatility of the CS901 series shines through. The induction furnace is suitable for analyzing metals and alloys such as steel, iron, cast iron, copper, and titanium, as well as non-metals like ceramics. On the other hand, the resistance furnace is ideal for organic materials including coal, wood, soil, and ores.
The sample analysis process with the CS901 series is a streamlined journey. It begins with logging the sample into the system. The user simply inputs the sample ID into the accompanying ELEMENTS software, which automatically records the weight. This data transfer sets the stage for step two-weighing the sample with precision.
Typical sample volumes for C/S analysis in the resistance furnace range from 50 mg to 500 mg, depending on the material. The samples are directly placed into a designated container, often referred to as a 'boat', without the need for accelerants. This straightforward approach minimizes preparation time and potential sources of error.
Once the sample is ready, it is positioned in front of the furnace, and the measurement process is initiated within the software interface. A green LED indicator signals when it is appropriate to introduce the sample into the furnace. As the combustion process unfolds, the ELEMENTS software continuously captures and records measurement values. Approximately 60 to 240 seconds after the analysis commences, the measured carbon and sulfur concentrations are available for review.
The data output and export functionality of the CS901 series is equally impressive. Measured results can be readily exported as detailed reports or seamlessly integrated with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). This feature facilitates further data processing, archiving, and analysis, allowing labs and quality control centers to maintain a high degree of organization and traceability.
In conclusion, the CS901 series represents a pinnacle of technological innovation in the field of carbon and sulfur analysis. With its dual furnace design, high-temperature capabilities, and advanced detection systems, it offers unmatched accuracy, efficiency, and flexibility. Whether you are in metallurgy, environmental monitoring, or any other sector where reliable C/S analysis is crucial, the CS901 series is a dependable partner for ensuring your materials meet the highest quality standards.
